From Delhi, you can reach Chandigarh either by road, rail or air. Then you have to take a bus from Chandigarh to reach Dharamsala/Mcleodganj. Upon arrival, you have to hire a local cab to reach Kareri village via Ghera and after reaching you have to trek in order to reach Kareri lake.

- To access Kareri Lake, you need to obtain a trekking permit for which you can get in touch with the Dhauladhar wildlife Sanctuary as the trekking route passes through deep forests. Camping permits are issued only if you are going for a camping expedition.
- Have all the required documents and Govt Ids in hand for making permits.
- Carry proper warm clothes to keep yourselves warm as it remains moderately cold throughout the year
- Make sure that you are having enough food and water with yourself since you will not get any shops in Kareri Lake
- Reaching Kareri lake involves trekking and for that carry all the required trekking equipments to ease diffiulties.
- For people with breathing problems, it is advisable to carry inhaler/oxygen canister as it provided instant relief.
