Wonders Around Gir National Park

The last refuge of Asiatic Lions, Gir National Park is a wild place in Gujarat. This park attracts people from all over the world because of the healthy population of Asiatic Lions are here. The park itself is a major attraction in Gujarat and the surrounding areas offer a wealth of interesting sites and activities for travelers. If you’re coming to Gir for a safari ride then visiting these places should be there on your list. 

1. Somnath Temple

This is a famous pilgrimage site that is just at a distance of 45 km from this wild area. This is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. This temple has beautiful architecture and people should definitely come here to get the blessings of Shiva. This temple is famous because of its spiritual significance and historical importance. If you come here then don’t go anywhere during the evening arti (prayer). 

2. Diu Island

Diu is a nice place to spend a good weekend. This island offers a refreshing coastal trip. This one is just like Goa but there is not much tourism. Diu is famous because of its pristine beaches, Portuguese architecture, and laid-back vibe. It’s a perfect place to relax after a thrilling safari ride. You can visit some attractions of this place in your free time including  Diu Fort, St. Paul’s Church, and Naida Caves, and don’t miss the sunset at Nagoa Beach.

3. Junagadh

This place is located at a distance of about 55 km from Gir Nationa Park. This city is famous because of its culture and history. People come here to visit Girnar Hills which is filled with various ancient temples. You can see mesmerizing views of the surroundings from the hills and it's a challenging task to climb here. History enthusiasts can visit the Uparkot Fort, Mahabat Maqbara, and Ashoka's Rock Edicts.  

4. Sasan Gir Interpretation Zone, Devalia

This area is a fenced zone that is made inside Gir National Park. In this fenced zone, people can see lions, leopards, and other wild animals in a more controlled environment. This zone was made to ease the pressure of tourism on Gir National Park. People who didn’t get the opportunity to enjoy a ride in Gir can do a safari here. 

5. Kankai Mata Temple

This is a temple that is made 25 km inside Gir National Park. Many people like to visit this temple because it is located inside the [ark and people can see some wild animals around them while visiting the temple. This temple is in the buffer zone of the park and the locals worship Kankai Mata to protect them and the wild animals of the area.

Other than them, people should try going to Junagadh to know the history of this place and to take blessings from various temples situated on the hill.
